Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has conducted extensive raids across Sindh and Balochistan, removing 770 illegal domestic connections. This aggressive campaign is part of SSGC’s zero-tolerance policy towards gas theft, which contributes significantly to Unaccounted-for-Gas (UFG) losses. In Karachi, SSGC’s Customer Relations Department’s theft control teams dismantled 570 illegal connections in F. B. Area and Liaquatabad. Many residents had illegally extended their gas lines, which were promptly removed.

In North Karachi, a bakery factory owner was caught using a heavy generator with a direct service line connection. Following this raid, conducted by Security Services and Counter Gas Theft Operations (SS&CGTO) and SSGC Police, an FIR was lodged against the culprit. Raids in Nawabshah and Larkana led to the removal of 25 illegal connections, with theft clamps and rubber pipes being confiscated.

An FIR was lodged against hotel owners in Nawabshah who were caught using stolen gas for their business operations. In Balochistan, 175 illegal connections were dismantled in Quetta, Pishin, Kalat, and Mastung. Some of these connections involved fake meters, which were also removed. Theft control teams seized clamps and rubber pipes used for gas pilferage. SSGC has vowed to continue strict monitoring and regular raids to prevent repeated cases of gas theft in these regions. The company emphasizes that gas theft is a major cause of UFG losses and is committed to aggressive prosecution to curb this menace.
