In a proactive effort to prevent gas-related accidents during the winter season, Sui Southern Gas Company  launched its 2024-25 Winter Safety Awareness campaign at a session held at the Quetta Press Club. The event saw a significant turnout of religious scholars and media representatives from across the Balochistan region, reflecting widespread support for promoting safe gas usage practices. SSGC’s Acting Senior General Manager, Abdul Waheed Jumani, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding human lives through responsible gas use.

He urged Balochistan residents, especially in colder areas, to exercise caution with gas-powered appliances and assured the attendees that SSGC is actively working to address gas-related issues in the region. Jumani highlighted ongoing measures within SSGC’s utility management designed to minimize challenges for consumers, with recommendations to improve safety protocols being submitted to senior management. Farooq Ahmed, SSGC’s GM for the Balochistan Region, outlined the primary goals of the awareness campaign. He emphasized that gas is a precious resource that must be handled carefully to prevent accidents, and warned against the use of rubber pipes, recommending high-quality GI iron pipes instead. Khan also shared that SSGC had completed 33 development projects in Balochistan during 2023-24, with investments totaling 500m rupees, and promised continued initiatives to maintain gas pressure during the winter months to meet local needs.
