Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) uncovered extensive gas theft schemes, leading to the recovery of millions of rupees worth of stolen gas. In Karachi’s Nazimabad area, a joint raid by SSGC’s Security Services, Counter Gas Theft Operations (SS&CGTO) Wing, and SSGC Police at Al-Habib Sweets and Bakers exposed direct gas theft through a service line, resulting in the lodging of an FIR against the culprit. Similarly, in Hyderabad’s old Wahdat Colony, a scheduled leak survey led to the discovery of theft clamps installed on a gas supply pipe to 25 houses. The raiding team removed the clamps and replaced the compromised pipe. Furthermore, in Yaqoob Shah Basti, Mangophir area of Karachi, SSGC’s Customer Relations Department (CRD) uncovered elaborate gas theft operations involving illegal connections supplying gas to over 130 houses.

The team disconnected gas supply to these houses and initiated strict monitoring to prevent future thefts. Overall, the crackdown revealed an alarming volume of stolen gas, amounting to Rs. 3.9 million per year. SSGC has raised claims against the perpetrators and intensified monitoring to curb gas theft activities.
