ISLAMABAD – Sri Lank Cricket has ended its ‘A’ team’s Pakistan tour due to the ongoing PTI protests in Islamabad.
Sri Lanka ‘A’ team has so far played two four-dayers and one 50-over match against Pakistan Shaheens.
The hosts won the two-match red-ball series 1-0 after winning the first and drawing the second one. Shaheens were leading the three-match white-ball series 1-0 after winning the first 50-over match by 108 runs on last Monday.
The last two matches were scheduled for Wednesday and Friday at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed the postponement of the remaining matches on Tuesday evening.
“The Pakistan Cricket Board, in consultation with Sri Lanka Cricket, has postponed the last two 50-over matches of the Pakistan Shaheens-Sri Lanka ‘A’ series due to a political activity in the federal capital”, says a press release issued by the PCB on Tuesday evening.
“Both boards will collaborate to finalise new dates to complete the series”, the press release further reads.
