A special prayer was offered at Faisal Masjid following the Friday (Jumma) sermon, seeking success for the ongoing US–Iran talks alongside prayers for peace, stability and prosperity in Pakistan and the wider region.
The congregation, led by Acting Rector and President of International Islamic University Islamabad, Prof Dr Ahmed Saad Alahmed, drew a large number of worshippers, including senior officials and distinguished guests from Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The gathering reflected a strong collective spirit of unity, faith and hope at a time of heightened regional diplomatic activity.
Supplications were offered for Pakistan’s leadership and for the success of efforts aimed at fostering dialogue and de-escalation at the international level. In this context, prayers were also made for Commander of the Defence Forces (CDF) Syed Asim Munir, acknowledging his role in national security and Pakistan’s constructive engagement in promoting regional and global peace.
Addressing the congregation, Prof Dr. Alahmed highlighted the challenges facing the Muslim Ummah and underscored the urgent need for unity, solidarity and cooperation among Muslim countries. He stressed that in an increasingly complex global environment, strengthening mutual understanding and collective resolve is essential for ensuring stability and progress.
In his sermon, he described Islam as a unifying force that fosters brotherhood and cohesion, warning that divisions and discord weaken societies. Drawing on Qur’anic teachings, he urged Muslims to remain steadfast, uphold patience and perseverance, and adhere to the principles of the Qur’an and Sunnah as a foundation for collective discipline and development.
