LAHORE – A special committee formed to investigate the alleged assault of a student at a private college in Lahore has submitted its report to Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz.
Sources indicate that the report found no evidence of the alleged assault within the college, nor were there any eyewitnesses to the incident.
The sources said that the committee interviewed approximately 28 students, and those interviewed mentioned that they had only heard about the incident from others.
The sources further stated that the college administration failed to manage the situation effectively, and the principal had little control over the students.
The report noted that the girl who was in the ICU was also interviewed in detail; she had sustained injuries from a fall at home on October 2.
The Punjab government had formed a special committee to investigate the alleged assault incident at the private college, which was expected to submit its report within 48 hours.
In response to the situation, Section 144 was imposed in various cities of Punjab, educational institutions were shut down and exams were postponed.
