Additional Chief Secretary South Punjab, Capt (r )Saqib Zafar has said that the Punjab government has a special focus on improving infrastructure in the region. In this regard, the current budget has provided huge funds for development projects.
He said that to accelerate the pace of development in South Punjab, technical assistance of private sector and non-governmental development agencies would also be sought so that the projects could be completed in accordance with international standards.
He was addressing a meeting with a UN representative at the South Punjab Secretariat Multan Office.
Matters of mutual interest and development in the region were discussed in detail during the meeting.
The ACS South Punjab said that a training session of National Reconstruction Departments and Secretaries will also be held this month in collaboration with the UN to build their capacity and develop best working relationship. He said that the private sector support in the field of health and education will be welcomed.
“Orders have been issued to all the departments to ensure timely completion of development works and good governance so that fruits of the sub-secretariat can be delivered to the people in real sense”, he concluded.
A nine-year-old child was killed in a fight over a kulfi on Friday. According to police, the incident occurred Ghulam Muhammad Abad area of Faisalabad.
The police have registered a case and arrested two brothers.
According to details, a 15-year-old attacked the nine-year-old with a brick after his kulfi melted. The child was rushed to the hospital but he died during treatment.
His family members said that his nose and face were bleeding when they took him to the hospital. The police said that the body would be handed over to the heirs after its post-mortem.
Meanwhile, the police swung into action after a video of a man driving recklessly on Canal Road went viral.
They impounded the vehicle and detained the man for questioning. The driver has been identified as Khurram Shehzad. The police are investigating the case.
