The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) and the education ministry had warned schools found violating the SOPs or ignoring the health guidelines.
On Thursday, one could see a large number of students standing peacefully along with their parents waiting outside the school gates keeping a safe distance and wearing masks.
“We have been asked to queue outside the gate before entering,” said a grade-3 student of an Islamabad Model School in Sector G-6.
We shall let them enter the building one by one after sanitizing their hands and taking their temperature, said a school employee who was standing with a bottle of sanitizer in one hand and a temperature gun in the other.
However, this was not the case in all the 400 plus schools and colleges of the FDE as they lacked resources to buy hand sanitizers or masks for their staff.
We have asked our students to bring masks and hand sanitizers from their house, said a vice principal of a Model College for Girls while requesting anonymity.
