In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the authorities have beefed up so-called security especially in Srinagar ahead of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the territory.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Modi is scheduled to visit Srinagar and address a rally there on March 7.

A week ahead of the visit, so-called security measures have been specially tightened around the Kashmir International Convention Centre, located on the banks of picturesque Dal Lake in Srinagar, the venue of Modi’s rally.

The surveillance has also been reinforced across Srinagar and other districts of the Kashmir Valley with additional check posts coming up for frisking and monitoring movement of people.

Indian forces’ personnel are conducting regular patrols and checks in Srinagar. The forces’ presence has been significantly bolstered, with additional troops deployed and heightened surveillance measures in place.

Aerial surveillance drones have been deployed to monitor the area, particularly around Dal Lake and its surroundings. In addition to the aerial surveillance drones, regular patrolling has been intensified in and around Dal Lake. Indian paramilitary troops and police are conducting regular patrols both on foot to terrorize the local population.—KMS
