At Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU), a session on Biomimetic innovation and entrepreneurship was conducted, featuring special participation from Prof. Dr. Javed Syed of Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS).
Addressing the session as the chief guest, Dr. Javed Syed emphasized the potential for improving lives and businesses by drawing inspiration from nature and its natural systems. He highlighted examples of biomimetic solutions, such as designing buildings in harmony with nature to reduce energy consumption and environmental impact. Dr. Syed shared insights on how biomimetic research has led to innovative solutions, citing the example of Japan’s bullet train design inspired by the kingfisher bird. He stressed the importance of adopting nature-friendly approaches to architecture and construction for sustainable development. Zaki Rashidi of Iqra University Karachi echoed the importance of returning to environmentally friendly practices.
