ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s beautiful capital city Islamabad, has taken a major step toward modern urban living with installation of its first-ever modern pelican crossing on Constitution Avenue, right in front of the Secretariat.
The newly installed crossing is being hailed as a landmark development that promises safer pedestrian movement and smoother traffic flow in one of the capital’s busiest zones. The project has been launched to ensure that citizens can cross roads safely, efficiently, and in line with international standards. The modern signal-controlled crossing is expected to significantly reduce accidents while also improving overall traffic management.

The initiative sparked widespread reaction on social media, with many citizens praising government and Capital Development Authority (CDA) for finally introducing modern infrastructure in the federal capital.
Some users praised the move, saying Pakistan is changing and development is clearly visible. This is happening because of PML-N government, development projects are their identity.
Pelican crossing is part of a larger CDA project focused on digitalization and infrastructure improvement, signaling a broader vision for transforming Islamabad into a smart city.
The development has also left many citizens stunned. Several users remarked that “this doesn’t even look like Pakistan anymore,” while others questioned when similar modern pelican crossings will be installed in other sectors of Islamabad.
