Six including 4-year-old girl died in Doda road mishap

At least six persons, including a 4-year-old girl and a woman, were killed and four others were injured in a tragic road accident in Doda district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident took place when a vehicle traveling from Thathri to Karhawa Phagsoo met with an accident in Khanpur-Phagoo, area of the Doda district on Saturday.

The deceased have been identified as Mukhtiyar Ahmed (28), baby girl (4), Riyaz Ahmed, Ireena Begum, Muhammad Rafi, and Noorain Fatima (8).

The injured, who were subsequently referred for specialized treatment at Government Medical College (GMC), Doda, include Muhammad Amir (28), a 10-year-old girl and an 8-year-old girl and Sufiyan Sheikh (24) and Saima Begum.

The incident underscores the concerning prevalence of accidents in Doda district, with numerous lives lost due to various factors such as poor road conditions, reckless driving, and inadequate road safety measures.

On the other hand, a 63-year-old woman tourist, identified as Vangikar Anagha hailing from Gujrat, India, died due to cardiac arrest at Pahalgam in South Kashmir’s Islamabad district.

Meanwhile, twenty sheep and goats of a nomad family were killed and 15 sheep and goats injured in a road accident near CHC Batote on the Batote-Kishtwar Highway. They were crushed under a speedy vehicle.

Following the incident, the nomad family staged a protest demonstration and blocked the Batote–Kishtwar Highway. They were demanding compensation from the administration and strict action against the driver involved in the accident.—KMS
