Sindh and Punjab have united to develop a shared vision for the welfare of marginalized communities. A key meeting on Monday saw the participation of Sarfaraz Rajar, Special Assistant to Chief Minister Sindh on Social Protection, and Jahan Ara Wattoo, Vice Chairperson of the Punjab Social Protection Authority (PSPA).

The meeting focused on fortifying social protection frameworks through mutual collaboration, sharing best practices, and aligning strategies. SACM Sarfaraz Rajar highlighted Sindh’s flagship Mamta Program, which currently benefits 1.3 million mothers and children in 15 districts. Building on its success, the Sindh government plans to expand the program to include lactating mothers, ensuring comprehensive support for both mothers and their children. Jahan Ara Wattoo expressed admiration for Sindh’s approach and voiced interest in integrating aspects of the Mamta Program into Punjab’s own social protection strategies.

She proposed the creation of a joint interprovincial platform to foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing, allowing both provinces to learn from each other and address gaps in their respective programs.

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to improving social protection systems, aiming to broaden the outreach and impact of initiatives for vulnerable populations across Pakistan.
