The Sindh Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the protection of women during floods, with a special focus on education. Rana Hussain, the provincial Minister of Education, made these statements during his address at the ‘Provincial Women Assembly’ event, organized by the Indus Consortium in collaboration with Oxfam and local organizations at the Regent Plaza Hotel in Karachi on Tuesday.
Minister Rana Hussain acknowledged the challenges faced by his ministry, including a limited portfolio and key vacancies in the Education department. Nevertheless, he expressed his dedication to driving tangible changes in the sector. He emphasized the crucial role that women play in society, asserting that development cannot be achieved without their active participation.
Rana Hussain stressed the importance of education for women, highlighting their potential to bring about positive societal changes. He pointed out that significant improvements in the department were essential to claim quality education. In this regard, the Sindh Government is considering incorporating the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) component into textbooks, as a step toward ensuring a comprehensive education system. Furthermore, he pledged to implement substantial changes by appointing competent and dedicated officers from other departments, subject to the approval of the Chief Minister of Sindh.
