The Sindh Excise and Taxation Department has officially transferred property tax records from all divisions in Karachi to municipal authorities. This move marks the completion of the first phase of the record transfer process. In the initial phase, property tax records from all divisions in Karachi were handed over to local bodies.

The second phase involves transferring property tax records from nine districts in Hyderabad, with additional transfers scheduled for Mirpurkhas, ShaheedBenazirabad, Larkana, and Sukkur divisions. A formal notification was issued by Excise Secretary Muhammad Saleem Rajput, detailing the changes.

The notification outlines that property tax employees will now assist with field activities related to motor vehicle tax inspections and anti-narcotics operations. As part of the reorganization, the 23 divisions have been renamed as regions and towns.

The workforce from these 23 divisions will support municipal authorities with property tax matters for the next three months. This reorganization aims to enhance the efficiency of the Excise and Taxation Department. Excise and Taxation Minister SharjeelInamMemon highlighted that the restructuring will boost departmental performance.

He noted that the return of the workforce from these divisions will improve efforts in motor vehicle tax collection and anti-narcotics operations in Karachi.

Memon emphasized that increased patrolling and action against drug-related activities will be a priority, with a focus on combating tax evasion and drug issues. The government remains committed to ensuring that all administrative processes meet citizens’ needs and adhere to legal standards.
