Normal life was severely affected in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir due to the shutdown, on Saturday, on the 7th martyrdom anniversary of popular youth leader, Burhan Muzaffar Wani.

Call for the shutdown was given by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference to pay tributes to Burhan Wani and other martyrs of Kashmir freedom movement. The strike call was supported by all pro-freedom leaders and organizations.

Indian troops had martyred Burhan Wani along with his two associates in a fake encounter in Kokernag area of Islamabad district on this day in 2016.

A report released by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service, today, said Indian troops have martyred 1821 Kashmiris, including 40 women, in occupied Jammu and Kashmir since the extrajudicial killing of Burhan Wani till date.

APHC leaders including Khadim Hussain, Syed Sibte Shabbir Qummi and Muhammad Huzaif in their statements issued in Srinagar paying glowing tributes to Burhan Wani reiterated the Kashmiris’ resolve to accomplish the mission of their martyrs at all costs.

They said that Burhan Wani gave a new dimension to the Kashmir liberation struggle through social media and his services and sacrifices for the freedom movement would always be remembered.

On the other hand, the APHC-AJK chapter and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Commission of AJK government organized an anti-India rally outside the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, today.

The participants of the rally carrying placards, posters and banners with the picture of Burhan Wani raised high-pitched slogans against India and in favour of Kashmir’s freedom from the Indian illegal occupation.

Similar rallies were held in Muzaffarabad, Garhi Dupatta and other areas of AJK by various organizations to pay tributes to Burhan Wani.

Meanwhile, the two Muslims were brutally assaulted with sticks and rods after being stripped and tied to a tree by a mob of cow vigilantes in Solapur district of Maharashtra state.—KMS
