Shortage of funds badly hit Punjab Model Schools

Different government schools particularly 20 schools declared by the government as Model schools went bankruptcy due to acute shortage of funds and bills of funds allocated for renovation and repair work also did not passed by the District Accounts Office Hafizabad, as a result of which, schools administration unable to pay electricity and other utility bills which caused disconnection of utility services.

According to details, the government of the Punjab was declared 20 high and higher secondary schools of the district as model schools and released Rs. 7 lakh for renovation and beatification of the schools each. When, heads of the schools completed renovation, beautification, repair work and submitted their bills to the district accounts office Hafizabad for payment then the accounts office disclosed that the grant has relapsed and their bills could not be passed.

Furthermore, the Punjab government was released insufficient Non Salary Budget and it was difficulty for heads of the schools to run the schools affaires smoothly. The teacher unions, educationist and literary people of the district demanded the District Education Authority and the Punjab government to release require based NSB to run the schools smoothly and to maintain quality education in the schools as well as provision of different facilities to students of the government schools.

Meanwhile President Awami Mahaz Hafizabad Rana Khalid Mehood said Deputy Commissioner Hafizabad Sundas Irshad is visiting different government institutions for improving service delivery is a laudable steps and expressed his hope that inspection of the government offices.
