Sindh High Court has heard a petition challenging the fixed charges imposed in monthly bills by Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC). In response to the petition, both the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and SSGC submitted their replies in court. Advocate Tariq Mansoor, representing the petitioner, informed the court that a similar petition was adjudicated by the Balochistan High Court, which ordered the establishment of a commission to address consumer grievances regarding unnecessary charges.

He stated that the commission will provide recommendations for resolving these issues and expressed the intent to include the Balochistan High Court’s ruling as part of the record. The court has postponed the further hearing of the case for three weeks and has extended the stay order against the recovery of fixed charges in gas bills until the next hearing. Additionally, the court has sought responses from the federal government and the Director General of Gas regarding the matter.
