Sindh high Court (SHC) has directed Sindh Ministry of Transport to decide about private transport tariff immediately or else the higher could would try the Ministry for contempt to court.
This was observed during hearing of a petition regarding private transport fares as the petitioner had apprised the higher court through the petition that the operators of private transport were minting money from the passenger at a scale they have decided themselves while the authorities concerned had lacked any onward legal action for curbing that practice of minting money through self-decided fares.
The higher court also expressed displeasure on lack of due signature or the Karachi Traffic Police Deputy Inspector General and said in remarks that the DIG had to know that signature was a compulsory step and could not be ignored. The higher court asked to write to DIG for an explanation.
