The Department of Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control has inaugurated a state-of-the-art biometric registration and queue management system to streamline the vehicle registration process scientifically. Sindh Senior Minister SharjeelInamMemon inaugurated these systems at the Excise Motor Registration Wing office in Karachi’s Civic Center. Speaking at the inauguration, Minister Memon emphasized the Sindh Government’s commitment to leveraging modern technology for public convenience, aligning with the vision of President Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. The newly implemented systems aim to prevent forgery and enhance the efficiency of vehicle registration by linking it to biometric data. Ensures secure and fraud-free vehicle registration. Facilitates orderly processing and offers online booking for appointments, reducing wait times. Establishment of a separate office for women and extended operational hours at a new District South office. Vehicle registration services to be provided at home for a nominal charge. SharjeelMemon highlighted the Excise Department’s efforts to create a user-friendly environment and mentioned that a shortage of staff, due to a court stay on recruitment, is being managed efficiently.
He also discussed ongoing actions against non-custom-paid vehicles and those using incorrect number plates. Addressing media queries, Memon reiterated accusations against Imran Khan, citing evidence from various credible figures and recent political developments. He stressed the importance of putting the nation above political affiliations and highlighted the Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) historical resilience and loyalty to the country. The department is working on implementing tracker chips for bikes to further enhance vehicle security. Senior officers, including Secretary Excise Sindh Saleem Rajput and DG Excise Aurangzeb Akbar Panhwar, attended the event, where exemplary staff were also awarded for their performance. This initiative represents a significant step towards modernizing Sindh’s public services and enhancing the overall efficiency of the Excise Department.
