Shahid Afridi Leaves Karachi Shifts To Islamabad Permanently

ISLAMABAD – Former Pakistan cricket captain and celebrated all-rounder Shahid Afridi has permanently relocated from Karachi to Islamabad, citing personal reasons for the move.

According to the media reports, Afridi said he wants to see Pakistan emerge as a rapidly developing country, stressing that continuity remains the most fundamental element for sustainable progress.

He confirmed that he decided to shift to Islamabad on a permanent basis due to certain personal considerations.

Afridi said Pakistan and Pakistan cricket have given him respect, recognition, and a global identity, adding that he now wishes to give back to both the country and the sport.

Responding to a question about entering politics, the former captain clarified that he has no plans to join politics at present. He said the government should be allowed to complete its five-year constitutional term and that all key constitutional office-holders, including the Chief Justice and the Army Chief, should be allowed to serve their full tenures.

Afridi further disclosed that he had previously been offered important government positions but chose to decline them, stating that ceremonial or symbolic posts hold no appeal for him.

He emphasized that the continuity in policies, the democratic process and the completion of constitutional terms in state institutions form the strongest foundation for national development, adding that the institutional stability ensures policy consistency and allows the benefits of progress to reach the public more quickly.
