Pakistan Us Agree To Boost Security Border Cooperation

ISLAMABAD – Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday met a high-level US delegation led by Acting US Ambassador Natalie Baker to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including security collaboration and border management.

During the meeting, both sides held detailed discussions on enhancing coordination at all levels to further deepen Pakistan-US cooperation, particularly with US institutions such as the Anti-Terrorist Assistance (ATA) Program and the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).

Naqvi said individuals involved in crimes abroad would be identified through the use of advanced software, stressing that modern technology is essential to curb financial fraud and terrorist financing. He underscored the importance of US cooperation with the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) in this regard.

The two sides also discussed training programs for officers of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Federal Constabulary, and cybercrime units. Matters related to the establishment of a Centre for Transformation Crime and an academy within the FIA, with US assistance, were also reviewed.

The interior minister said modern US equipment would be provided to border security forces, the Coastal Guards and other relevant agencies to enhance their operational capacity. He welcomed US support in the reorganization of the Federal Constabulary and in strengthening the capabilities of the FIA and NCCIA.

Naqvi added that US assistance would be highly beneficial in activating the FIA’s counterterrorism wing, describing it as the first federal-level counterterrorism unit aimed at maintaining effective coordination with provincial authorities.

He further said the NCCIA is carrying out a nationwide crackdown against illegal call centers and reiterated the need for sustained bilateral efforts to prevent financial crimes and terror financing.

The US delegation praised Pakistan’s efforts to enhance security cooperation and bilateral relations. Acting Ambassador Baker commended the ongoing collaboration between the Ministry of Interior and US agencies and reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to further strengthen ties with Pakistan.

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, the federal secretary interior, DG FIA, commandant Federal Constabulary, additional secretary interior, DG National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency, DG Passport and Immigration, IG Islamabad Police and other senior officials were also present at the meeting.
