Addressing the ceremony, the Caretaker Provincial Minister of Information, Minority Affairs, Social Protection, and President Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi Muhammad Ahmed Shah said, “I had a friendship with Mirza Abid Abbas, and I have had many free meals at his place. I have a close relationship with his family since childhood, and I had a keen interest in poetry since childhood. We used to have long sessions of poetry with Mirza Sahib. Society did not treat him well, but Mirza Abid Abbas had contentment on his face.
He was not as interested in fame as he was in the literary world. He left the field of literature and faced great difficulty to prepare him for participation in literary events. Hyderabad city was a hub of Mirza Abid Abbas’s intellect, and his imprints are found on the walls and corridors of Government City College. There should be a major road in this city named after Mirza Abid Abbas. Our society has lost its heroes. Mirza Abid Abbas used to be called the Sir Syed of Hyderabad. The whole society is in turmoil, whether money is a source of respect or not. In this society, literary figures are disappointed. The purpose of the program is to revitalize the architects of this society. The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi will donate books to the library of City College. The concerned Provincial Minister of Information, Muhammad Ahmed Shah, while talking to the media, said that today is the death anniversary of the famous literary figure Mirza Abid Abbas. He was a torchbearer in this city. The history of Government City College is associated with Mirza Abid Abbas. Mirza Abid Abbas’s students include big bureaucrats, poets, and writers. Mirza Abid Abbas served in teaching at Government City College for a long time.
Today, the library of Government City College Hyderabad is named after Mirza Abid Abbas. Mirza Abid Abbas organized Indo-Pakistan literary events in Hyderabad for 18 years. He said that national educational institutions are built. We did not give importance to the field of education that a civilized society should have. Now the conditions around the college are devastated. Hyderabad used to be a city of education, literature, and lights. The city has been ruined by a handful of people. We are trying to revive the city in its original form, make it a city of colors and lights again. He further said that the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi is organizing a three-day Pakistan Literature Festival at City School Hyderabad, which will be inaugurated on March 1st. Literary and artistic personalities will participate in the festival, and besides the cultural heritage of Hyderabad, there will also be a session on Mirza Abid Abbas. Famous artists will also perform in the festival. There is no ticket for the public in the festival.
