A significant press conference was held at the Karachi Press Club regarding the elections and law and order situation in the country. In this conference, the Provincial Minister for Information, Minority Affairs, Social Protection, and President Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi Muhammad Ahmed Shah, along with the Caretaker Interior Minister Sindh Brigadier Retired Haris Nawaz briefed the media.
Provincial Minister for Information, Minority Affairs, Social Protection, and President Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi Muhammad Ahmed Shah stated in the press briefing that only a few days left for the elections, a high-profile meeting has taken place with federal and provincial covenant bearers to ensure the maintenance of peace and security.
He informed that the Sindh government is fully prepared for the elections, releasing 62 crore rupees for the police. It was decided from the first day that any ongoing developments would be communicated to the media. Provincial Minister of Information, Muhammad Ahmed Shah, further mentioned during a discussion with journalists that an election cell is being established for the journalists, which will operate 24 hours a day.
He assured that he will personally monitor issues arising in interaction with journalists. All necessary facilities will be provided to journalists in the election cell. He highlighted the presence of numerous channels on social media with unverified information, stating that until social media matures to a point where it can be trusted, they cannot take any specific actions.
He pointed out the disparity between what is portrayed on social media and the actual reality. Passes will be issued to journalists in the social media departments of major organizations.
