Shabnam Ashraf Laid To Rest Leaving Behind Lasting Legacy Of Educational Excellence

ISLAMABAD – The education community in Islamabad bids farewell to one of its most respected figures as renowned educationist and founder of Preparatory School Islamabad (PSI), Mrs Shabnam Ashraf, was laid to rest at the age of 80 after prolonged illness.

Her funeral witnessed large gathering of people from all walks of life, including teachers, parents, students and well-wishers, who came together to pay their final respects to a woman whose life was devoted to education and the future of young generations. Her Namaz-e-Janaza was offered in H-11, Islamabad.

While her passing marks the end of a remarkable life, the values she championed and the countless lives she helped shape remain a lasting testament to her dedication, compassion and vision.

Mrs Ashraf is survived by her husband, Mr Saad Ashraf, three daughters and grandchildren. Beyond her immediate family, she leaves behind a much wider legacy — generations of students whose lives were enriched by her commitment to learning, character-building and educational excellence.

For Mrs Ashraf, education was more than the pursuit of academic achievement. It was an opportunity to nurture young minds, build confidence and help children realise their potential. This belief became the foundation of her life’s work and the guiding principle behind the institution she established 36 years ago.

Preparatory School Islamabad stands as her most enduring legacy. Founded with a vision to provide quality education while supporting the intellectual and personal development of young learners, PSI grew over the decades into one of Islamabad’s sought-after private schools.

The institution reflects the foresight and determination with which Mrs Ashraf pursued her mission, creating an educational environment shaped by her belief in the transformative power of learning.

Her contribution extended far beyond the school she founded. Every student she inspired, every young mind she helped nurture and every educator influenced by her example forms part of a legacy that will continue to grow long after her passing.

Although her family, colleagues and the wider educational community mourn her loss, the institution she built will continue to carry her vision forward. The lessons she imparted and the opportunities she helped create will remain part of the lives of those who passed through PSI’s doors.

Mrs Shabnam Ashraf may have departed, but the legacy she built through education will live on in the generations she inspired.
