Sindh Food Authority raided a factory in Mehran Town, Hyderabad, seizing over 6,000 kg of rotten and fungus-infested pickles. The operation, led by Deputy Director Faisal Soomro, resulted in the immediate disposal of the hazardous pickles, the imposition of a fine of Rs 300,000 on the factory owner, and the suspension of the factory’s production.
According to Muzammil Hussain Halepoto, Director General of the Sindh Food Authority, the seized pickles were contaminated with fungus, insects, and flies, making them unfit for consumption. Despite their hazardous condition, the pickles were intended for market distribution.
The Food Authority promptly sealed the factory and discarded the entire batch to prevent any risk to public health. Halepoto assured that teams across the province are working tirelessly to enforce food safety standards and take strict action against any entities compromising public health.
