Sindh Food Authority (SFA) conducted more than 350 inspections across the province on November 16, 2024, as part of its ongoing commitment to ensuring food safety and regulatory compliance. The inspections, spread over several districts, resulted in the issuance of improvement notices, fines, and the advancement of licensing processes aimed at safeguarding public health. In District South, two SFA teams carried out 35 inspections, leading to 11 improvement notices and fines totaling Rs. 640,000.
In District Kemari, 12 inspections were done, yielding five improvement notices and Rs. 90,000 in fines. Meanwhile, District Korangi saw 48 inspections, with 15 improvement notices, 12 fines amounting to Rs. 520,000, and 15 license challans worth Rs. 146,900. District Malir had 15 inspections, resulting in 11 notices and Rs. 300,000 in fines. In District East, 40 inspections led to three improvement notices and seven fines totaling Rs. 155,000, alongside 10 license challans. Further inspections were conducted in Shaheed Benazirabad, Mirpurkhas, and Hyderabad, where the SFA continued its rigorous checks.
The Hyderabad Vigilance Team, for instance, completed 23 inspections, issuing 17 improvement notices and imposing fines of Rs. 120,000. The SFA also targeted districts including Umerkot-Tharparkar, Sanghar, Thatta, Qambar-Shahdadkot, Matiari, Badin, Tando Muhammad Khan, Dadu, and Tando Allahyar, focusing on ensuring compliance with food safety standards. Director General of the Sindh Food Authority, Muzamil Hussain Halepoto, praised the inspection teams’ efforts and reaffirmed the SFA’s determination to uphold high food safety standards.
