An illustrious city with a rich historical heritage,Thatta finds itself in the grip of a severe sanitation and water crisis. The resilient citizens have persistently voiced their concerns through protests for the past 89 days, demanding a reliable water supply. Regrettably, the situation has worsened following heavy rainfall on June 15, resulting in the transformation of the city into a quagmire and causing flooding in the esteemed Shahi Bazaar.

The sight that unfolds across the cityscape is a lamentable one, as shopkeepers are left with no choice but to shut their establishments or endure the putrid odor emanating from the contaminated water and filth. Thatta, once renowned for its enchanting fragrant gardens and having served as the capital of Sindh for four centuries, now bears the scars of this dire predicament.

The impact of this crisis is particularly felt in key areas such as the bustling Shah Bazaar, as well as Sheerazi Mohlla, Shah Mubeen Mohlla, Shah Kamal Mohlla, Ameri stop, and other sections of the city. These regions now lie in disarray, leaving the citizens and shopkeepers grappling with substantial financial losses.

Prominent individuals within the affected community, including Naseer Khumbhatti, Saleem Chaki, and others, have expressed their deep distress over the prevailing conditions. They have issued a stern warning that unless prompt action is taken to restore cleanliness to the city, they will initiate further protests to highlight the urgency of the situation.
