Several stranded in Jammu as 40 trains cancelled due to farmers’ protest in Punjab

Several passengers are stranded in Jammu and Kashmir as railway authorities have cancelled over 40 trains since Friday due to an ongoing agitation by farmers in neighbouring Punjab, officials said.

Scores of farmers on Friday launched an indefi-nite agitation in Jalandhar and blocked train move-ment on the Ludhiana-Amritsar and the Ludhiana-Jammu railway routes to press the Punjab govern-ment to accept their demand to increase sugarcane prices and clear issues related to pending dues.—KMS
