TEHRAN – Chairman of Senate of Pakistan Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani visited Tehran, where he was received by Deputy Speaker of Iran’s Parliament and presented with a guard of honour.
According to the information provided, Gilani paid his respects to assasinated Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, during his visit. He was accompanied by the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi.

After reception, Chairman Gilani held a meeting with the Deputy Speaker of the Iranian Parliament. The two sides discussed a wide range of issues, including Pakistan-Iran bilateral relations, parliamentary cooperation, and matters of mutual interest. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening ties between the two neighbouring countries.
Chairman Gilani and Deputy Speaker jointly addressed presser, highlighting importance of enhancing parliamentary engagement and expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.
Members of the Pakistan-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group were also present on the occasion. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran, senior officials of the Pakistani Embassy, and high-ranking Iranian officials welcomed the Senate Chairman upon his arrival.
During the visit, Chairman Gilani also met with political leaders, representatives of civil society, religious scholars, and members of the media. The meetings underscored the shared commitment of Pakistan and Iran to deepen their longstanding brotherly relations, promote parliamentary diplomacy, and strengthen bilateral collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
