Senators express satisfaction at army’s efforts to preserve Pakistan’s territorial integrity

Members of the Senate Defence Committee of the Parliament have expressed their satisfaction at the Pakistan armed forces’ efforts and their role to preserve, protect and promote Pakistan’s territorial integrity and national borders on the Western and the Eastern sides. They were attending a briefing on the border fencing issue with Afghanistan as well as military situation with India, both along the Line of Control (LoC) and the international border.
Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed chaired the meeting. Secretary Defence, Lt Gen. (Retd) Mian Mohammad Hilal Hussain and his team gave a detailed briefing on the situation. The members of the committee asked specific questions and expressed satisfaction at the briefing and support to the Pakistan
The Defence Committee was also given a detailed briefing on the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for 2022-23 with specific reference to projects and allocations in different departments of the Ministry of Defence, including education, medical, national security, Pakistan Maritime Security Agency, Survey of Pakistan and other related departments.
The members reviewed the projects individually and after detailed briefing, endorsed the proposals of the Ministry of Defence. The members also lauded the professionalism of the various department of the Ministry of Defence especially the due diligence over quality as well as quantity of expenditure.
Members attended the meeting included Senator Anwarul Haq Kakar, Senator Waleed Iqbal, Senator Faisal Javed and Senator Umar Farooq and Secretary Committee, Major (R) Syed Hasnain Haider.
