Seminar on ‘Environment Sustainability & Agriculture’

A seminar title ‘Environment Sustainability and Agriculture’ was organized by Punjab University Department of Plant Pathology here on Wednesday.

Director Sustainable Development Study Centre, Government College University Lahore Prof DrFaiza Sharif, Formans Christian College University Lahore’s Prof Dr Aisha Saleem Khan, Chairperson Department of Plant Pathology Prof DrTehminaAnjum, PU ORIC Director Prof DrShakeel Ahmad, former Dean Faculty of Agricultural Sciences Prof Dr Muhammad SaleemHaider, faculty members and students were present on the occasion.

The objective of the seminar was to create awareness among students and researchers regarding climate crises and pollution challenges in agriculture.

Addressing the participants, DrFaiza shed light on emerging issues within Pakistan’s agricultural system due to climate change and global warming, offering potential solutions and encouraging students to delve into these areas.

Dr Aisha shared her research findings from WWF-funded projects on phytoremediation, captivating the audience with intriguing data and plant illustrations. DrShakeel Ahmad commended the work of both scientists and stressed the importance of involving agricultural students in relevant research.

DrSaleemHaider applauded the Department of Plant Pathology for organizing a seminar on such a crucial topic, highlighting how such platforms open up new research avenues for young minds.
