Seminar held to highlight mathematics importance

The Department of Mathematics, University of Sargodha organized a seminar titled “Importance of Mathematics in Finance and Economics”. Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, Vice Chancellor, University of Sargodha, embraced the event with his presence. He highlighted the importance of mathematics in other disciplines and appreciated the department for organizing the wonderful academic event.

The invited speaker Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shahbaz (Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing, China) gave the motivated lecture to participants in context of research and higher education.

He is a well known policy researcher in the world.

The participants attended the lecture with keen interest and enjoyed the wonderful way of delivery of the lecturer by the respected speaker.

In the end, Dr. Shahid Mubeen (Chairman, Department of Mathematics) announced the start of a new BS program “BS in Mathematics with Finance and Economics” from Fall-2023 after the approval from concerned bodies.

He said that this program is unique in its numerous career paths. Especially after BS in Mathematics, students see teaching as the only profession, but in the changing world, the importance of mathematics is much more than that and almost every field from biology to computer requires mathematics, he added.
