RAWALPINDI – Security forces have killed three terrorists during an intelligence based operation (IBO) close to Pak-Afghan border in Lower Dir, said military’s media wing on Monday.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was conducted to thwart an infiltration attempt by militants when exchange of fire took place between the terrorists and forces.
Terrorists have been identified as Abid and Yousaf Khan, both residents of Swat, and Abdul Sattar, resident of Mardan.
It said that large quantity of weapons, ammunition and grenades were also recovered.
“These terrorists remained involved in several target killing incidents at Swat in 2019.
These terrorists had planned to infiltrate and target several notables inside Pakistan, however they were timely engaged and killed,” read official statement.
Locals of the area appreciated the operation and vowed their full support to defeat menace of terrorism from the area, it concluded.
On Jan 18, Security Forces conducted and IBO in Nargosa area of South Waziristan district.
During intense fire two terrorists Usman Ali and Waheed alias Lashtai were killed and one got injured and apprehended.
Killed terrorists were active members of TTP Sajna group and were IED experts, terrorist trainers, motivator and were involved in attacks on security forces.
Terrorist Usman was also involved in the attack on security forces on 14 October 2020 in which Capt Umer Cheema, 2 JCOs and 3 Soldiers embraced shahadat while 4 were injured.
