Security arrangements for Muharram reviewed


Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi Muhammad Ihsan Tufail on Monday chaired a meeting here to review security arrangements for Muharram-ul-Harram.
The RPO directed to strengthen the security of worship places, majalis , processions and Imambargahs.
According to a press release, the RPO said there was dire need for maintaining atmosphere of religious harmony and brotherhood at all levels during the holy month.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) must be followed in letter and spirit by the police officials and strict action would be taken for negligence in that regard, he added.
The RPO said no one would be allowed to stand on rooftops of commercial and residential buildings situated along the routes of mourning processions. The high police officials must personally monitor all the main congregations while picketing and patrolling must be intensified during dispersal of religions gatherings, he added.—APP
