ISLAMABAD – Authorities on Monday closed several government schools in different areas of Islamabad as part of security measures ahead of possible protests and sit-in calls by political parties.
School administrations have informed parents about the holiday on Monday (21 September 2026), with schools in Sector G-7 and the Sitara Market area among those affected. A government school in Sector F-7/3 has also been closed.
Reports said police personnel will be accommodated at some of the schools in Sector G-7 and around Sitara Market as part of security arrangements.
When Will Schools Reopen?
Report said the public schools have been closed on Monday but they did not provide further details if the holidays will be extended or not. If the holidays are not extended, the schools will reopen on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the Islamabad administration has stepped up preparations to deal with possible protest marches and sit-ins by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the federal capital.
The Red Zone has been completely sealed, while authorities have decided to dig trenches along major roads to prevent protesters arriving from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from entering the city.
Authorities are also preparing to establish barriers on various roads. Empty shipping containers are reportedly being filled with sacks of soil to create temporary barricades, with workers accelerating the construction work.
