Sending the sugar prices’ case back to the Lahore High Court (LHC), the Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday ordered the former to pronounce verdict in the case in 15 days.
The LHC also received from the SC its four-page verdict on the interim relief granted to the sugar mills’ owners, which had been penned down by a three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Justice Umar Ata Bandial.
In its decision, the SC writes that it was not LHC’s job to take up the case of fixation of prices of items of essential use for hearing since it had nothing to do with it. “The courts are not supposed to interfere in the matters not falling in their domain. —INP
