The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday issued notices to federal and provincial heads of health commissions and provincial advocate generals while summoning implementation report over the National Interventional Cardiology Board recommendations.
A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed, conducted the hearing.
The court remarked that substandard stents are being used across the country and the cardiac problems are being dealt by inexperienced individuals.
Azhar Kiyani, chairman of life saving devices pricing committee, admitted that substandard stents are available in large numbers in markets and inexperienced practitioners are working.
Justice Ijazul Ahsan said in his remarks that import of substandard stents should not be allowed.
The CJP said the court orders and NICB recommendations are not being followed. The court rejected the plea requesting to make the National Accountability Bureau a member of the pricing committee.
