ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday fixed for hearing a plea against February 8 general elections.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Esa will head a three-member bench for hearing of the plea on February 19.
Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Masurrat Hilali are the other members of the bench.
A citizen namely Ali Khan had approached the Supreme Court few days ago against the general elections.
He made the federal government and the Election Commission of Pakistan as respondents.
The petitioner also asked the court to declare the elections held on Feb 8 as null and void, and stop formation of the government based on these elections.
The plea prayed the top court that under judicial supervision, new elections should be held within 30 days.
It also asked the court to order investigations into rigging and election fraud and take action against those responsible.
