Pakistan’s liquid foreign reserves stood at $ 22,646.5 million as of May 22, 2026.
According to the data shared by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Friday, the central bank’s foreign reserves stood at $ 17,147 million as of May 22, 2026. Net foreign reserves held by the commercial banks stood at $ 5,499.5 million.
During the week ending May 22, 2026, SBP’s foreign reserves increased by $ 66 million to $ 17,147 million. During the week ending May 15, 2026, SBP’s foreign reserves increased by $ 1,214 million to $ 17,081 million.
The increase in SBP’s reserves was mainly due to receipt of funds from the IMF under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF), and proceeds from the issuance of Panda Bonds. There were some external debt repayments as well.
During the week ending May 8, 2026, SBP’s foreign reserves increased by $17 million to $ 15,867.4 million. Before that week, SBP’s foreign reserves increased by $23 million to $15,850.7 million. Before that week, SBP’s foreign reserves increased by $730 million to $15,827.9 million. The increase in SBP’s reserves was mainly due to the receipt of Pakistan Eurobond proceeds.
