Sbp Sandbox Tests Innovative Solutions In Remittances Open Banking

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has launched the second cohort of its Regulatory Sandbox, inviting individuals and firms to submit innovative solutions for testing in a controlled environment.

The initiative is aimed at supporting responsible innovation in digital financial services while helping the central bank enhance and update the regulatory framework in response to emerging technologies.

The SBP introduced the Regulatory Sandbox in August 2025 under its Vision 2028 initiative and successfully completed the first cohort in June 2026.

For the second cohort, the central bank will consider applications covering four key areas: artificial intelligence in financial services, payment innovations, technology-enabled inward remittances, and next-generation financial services under an open theme.

Applicants with innovative solutions relevant to these areas can submit their proposals via email to [email protected] by November 30, 2026..

The SBP said only proposals falling within the specified themes will be considered, with the programme also focused on safeguarding consumers and maintaining financial stability.
