The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has decided to take decisive action to eliminate illegal constructions, pledging a comprehensive crackdown on violations. According to Director General SBCA Abdul Rashid Solangi, all district directors, deputy, and assistant directors will vigorously address illegal portions, additional floors, and violations of approved land use on residential plots. Concerns have been raised over increasing complaints regarding these issues, particularly in Central and East districts of the city.
High officials have expressed alarm over construction irregularities and their negative impact on urban development. Despite previous efforts to combat illegal construction, the SBCA acknowledges the need for a more robust and swift approach. In light of this, Director General Solangi has issued firm directives to relevant officers to enhance the effectiveness and speed of ongoing operations.
Under the new orders, Additional Director General Samit Ali Khan will ensure transparent compliance with demolition procedures and is tasked with submitting daily reports on demolition performance from district directors. Solangi has issued a stern warning that any involvement in the patronage of illegal constructions or obstruction of the demolition process will not be tolerated. He emphasized that strict departmental action will be taken against any officer or field staff found complicit in these violations.
