Following directives from the Sindh Government, the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has embarked on a significant beautification initiative along Shahrah-e-Faisal, which stretches from the FTC Building to the Airport. This project aims to enhance the visual appeal of one of Karachi’s most important thoroughfares, creating a more inviting atmosphere for both residents and visitors. Director General of SBCA, Abdul Rasheed Solangi, conducted an on-site review of the project’s progress. Accompanied by senior SBCA officials, he assessed the ongoing painting and structural upgrades on 24 buildings involved in the project. Efforts are concentrated in key areas of District Malir and District East, where numerous buildings are currently undergoing facade improvements. In District Malir, work on 14 buildings has reached 60% completion, with plans for decorative lighting installations in the next phase to enhance nighttime visibility. In District East, nearly 75% of the painting and repair work has been completed on 10 buildings, with detailed facade finishes scheduled to follow soon. DG Solangi emphasized that the beautification project aligns with the directives of the Chief Minister of Sindh, Chief Secretary of Sindh, and Minister for Local Government of Sindh. He stated, “This initiative underscores our commitment to enhancing Karachi’s urban landscape and improving the quality of life for its citizens. The beautification of Shahrah-e-Faisal is a priority set forth by our leadership, and we are dedicated to implementing these improvements with utmost attention to quality and aesthetic standards.” To ensure adherence to quality, each building’s exterior is being closely inspected for necessary repairs and enhancements. Additionally, local artists have been engaged to incorporate Karachi’s cultural themes into selected facades, merging modern design with traditional aesthetics. The SBCA is committed to transforming Shahrah-e-Faisal into a visually appealing corridor that aligns with the city’s urban development goals.
