Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman held talks with US Central Command chief Admiral Brad Cooper on Monday, with the two sides discussing recent developments in the region, Saudi state television reported.
The meeting came as Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi movement intensified attacks against Saudi Arabia.
The Houthis claimed on Monday that they had launched dozens of drones and ballistic missiles at military positions across the kingdom, describing the strikes as retaliation for Saudi air raids.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said the group carried out a “large-scale military operation” against military facilities and infrastructure at King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait.
According to Saree, the targets included aircraft hangars, radar systems, runways, ammunition storage facilities and other military installations.
