KARACHI – The final radio communication between the crew of the K2 Airways cargo aircraft that crashed into the Arabian Sea and Karachi Air Traffic Control (ATC) has been revealed, shedding light on the aircraft’s final moments before contact was lost.
The K2 Airways cargo flight, operating as KTA-1732, encountered technical difficulties while flying within Karachi’s airspace.
The aircraft reportedly lost communication with Karachi ATC after the pilot informed controllers of a malfunction in the navigation system and requested radar vectoring to assist with safe navigation.
At 16:17 UTC, the flight captain notified air traffic controllers that the aircraft was experiencing navigation-related problems and required radar guidance.
During the same transmission, the pilot also reported that the aircraft was rolling, indicating a possible loss of stability.
Following the loss of contact, aviation authorities activated the emergency response plan. The aircraft later crashed into the Arabian Sea on July 7, 2026.
The cargo plane was carrying five crew members at the time of the accident. Those on board were Captain Muhammad Rizwan Idris, First Officer Faisal Mahmood, Loadmaster Muhammad Toufiq, Engineer Arif Siddiqui, and Muhammad Hamid. All crew members were residents of Karachi.
The aircraft involved in the accident had entered service after its maiden flight in 1999. Aviation authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the cause of the crash, while search and recovery efforts remain underway in the Arabian Sea.
The release of the final communication provides investigators with important information as they examine the sequence of events leading to the fatal accident.
