Just a few of days ago, on September 23, the nation celebrated its 93rd National Day under the banner of “We Dream and We Achieve.” A recent visit to Saudi Arabia revealed a nation in the midst of remarkable transformation, leaving an enduring impression. For decades, Saudi Arabia has been synonymous with oil production, but today it is diversifying its economy at a breathtaking pace. The nation is eagerly embracing a post-oil era, with a keen focus on multiple sectors including tourism, technology and academia. Spearheaded by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the ambitious Vision 2030 plan aims to transform Saudi Arabia into a global economic powerhouse. Firsthand observations during the visit showcased new construction projects, the emergence of knowledge cities and the proliferation of modern malls—tangible signs of a rapidly evolving economy.
Saudi Arabia is progressively opening its doors to the world, emerging as an increasingly sought-after tourism destination. Its rich history, diverse landscape and cultural treasures are drawing travellers from across the globe. A visit to Makkah and Madinah provided a profound spiritual experience while also revealing the country’s natural beauty, from the enchanting Red Sea coastline to the mesmerizing desert landscape. The introduction of the e-visa program further extends a warm invitation to tourists, promising unforgettable experience.
Investment in education and research are positioning Saudi Arabia as a hub for academic excellence in the region. Knowledge cities and collaboration with prestigious international universities are empowering Saudi students to excel on a global scale. Visits to these institutions left a strong impression of their commitment to fostering innovation and knowledge sharing.
Beyond technological advancement, Saudi Arabia actively drives innovation. A journey on the high-speed train from Makkah to Madinah showcased the nation’s commitment to modern infrastructure and transportation. The seamless and comfortable travel experience reflected Saudi Arabia’s readiness to adopt cutting-edge technologies.
Amidst rapid development and progress, what truly stands out in Saudi Arabia is the warmth and hospitality of its people. From the moment of arrival at the airport to departure, there was a consistent theme of genuine kindness and a sense of being in a second home. Since its inception, Vision 2030 has laid a robust foundation for success through unprecedented reforms across the public sector, economy and society, leading to improved government efficiency, new growth opportunities, enhanced global engagement and an improved quality of life for Saudi citizens, all demonstrating the dedication of the entire Saudi population. The nation remains resolute in achieving its 2030 goals, focusing on empowering its citizens, diversifying the economy, nurturing local content, fostering innovation and attracting both local and foreign investments while developing new sectors through the Public Investment Fund.

During the visit to the Kingdom, there was the unique privilege of engaging with Saudi Arabia’s youth. They proved to be remarkably patriotic, innovative, friendly and deeply committed to advancing their country and realizing Vision 2030 and the global development goals outlined in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through their participation in various international forums.
