The University of Sargodha (SU) and Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) North Cyprus finalized a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to expand academic and research collaboration.

The agreement was duly signed by the Vice Chancellor Sargodha University Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmad and Eastern Mediterranean University Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın.

Along with sharing similar values on the importance of educational standards and providing a variety of academic and research opportunities to students and faculty, both academic institutions are also contributing to scientific knowledge, cultural development and reputation.

Recognizing the importance of active engagement of academic members and researchers, both universities agreed to promote and encourage short and long term visits of students and academic staff.

Joint research activities in the fields of common interest and exchange of ideas for mutual benefit would also be promoted.

Besides exchanging research and educational data for strengthening academic activities, inviting scholars and students for participation in training, lectures, conferences, symposia and workshops, were other features of the signed MoU.

Established in 1979 in Northern Cyprus, the EMU has created a multicultural environment with more than 16,000 students from 85 countries and prominent faculty members from 35 different nations.

The Eastern Mediterranean University has 247 international academic collaborations with 50 different countries worldwide.

The EMU is also a full member of various prominent international organizations such as EUA, IAU, FUIW, EFMD, AACSB and CMU, and has been consistently ranked among the best 5% universities in the world by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, Webometrics Rankings of World Universities, and URAP evaluations.
