Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani was called on by the Country Head of the World Food Program (WFP) Mr. Chris Kaye at Parliament House . Ongoing projects of World Food Program in different parts of Pakistan, especially in Balochis-tan came under discussion during the meeting.

The head of the agency briefed the Chairman Senate on the WFP’s future plans. Briefing the Chairman Senate, the Country Head WFP said that in collabo-ration with Ehsas Program, WFP is working on projects in different parts of Pakistan and in collabo-ration with Turkish welfare organization, distribu-tion of rations and welfare work is ongoing in Chaghi area of Balochistan.

Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani said that the efforts of the World Food Program (WFP) to reach out to the backward classes were commendable and there were problems due to malnutrition and backward-ness in remote areas of Pakistan. Most parts of Ba-lochistan are suffering from drought due to lack of rainfall.

He said that the government was working with the welfare agencies and international organizations to alleviate the sufferings of the people of such areas and food shortages and climate change is creating problems for people of remote areas. It is very im-portant to build the capacity of the welfare organiza-tions working on these projects.

Mr. Chris Kaye said that the World Food Program was well aware of these issues and was providing all possible assistance to overcome these challenges.
