Sameer Minhas broke several records during his match-winning knock of 172 runs off just 113 balls against India in the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup final in Dubai on Sunday.
Sameer’s 172 runs are the highest individual score in a U19 Asia Cup final. The previous best was Pakistan’s Sami Aslam’s 132 against India in 2012. This is also the highest individual score by a Pakistani player in YODIs, surpassing Shahzaib Khan’s 159.
During the match-winning knock of 172, the right-handed top-order batter hit 17 fours and nine huge sixes. As such, he collected 122 runs in boundaries, the most for a Pakistani player in a YODI. Previously, Shamyl Hassan held the record by collecting 94 runs in a YODI.
Sameer collected 471 runs in five matches at an average of 157, the highest for a Pakistani batter in an Asia Cup edition. In the 2012 Asia Cup, Sami Aslam scored 461 runs at an average of 115.25.
