SaeedGhani approves key SSWMB projects

The second session of the Provincial Steering Committee chaired by SaeedGhani, Minister for Local Government, Housing Town Planning, Public Health Engineering, and Rural Development Sindh, and Chairman of the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board, convened on Tuesday. The meeting saw the attendance of various committee members, including Mayor Karachi Barrister MurtazaWahab, Mayor Hyderabad Kashif Ali Shoro, Mayor Sukkur Barrister ArsalanShaikh, Mayor Larkana Anwar Ali Nawaz, Additional Chief Secretary Local Government Khalid Hyder Shah, Managing Director SSWMB, Imtiaz Ali Shah, Deputy Secretary Finance, Tabrez Mari, Vice-Chancellor NED University SaroshHashmatLodhi, and others.

The meeting commenced with a recitation of Fateha by Minister SaeedGhani to honor the late Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi. Later, the session approved the preparation of assessment reports for carrying out work in various cities of Interior Sindh including Larkana Division, GadhiKhudaBux, Naudero, Ratodero, Badha, Dokri, Bakrani Town, Tando Jam, Sehwan, and others.

Approval was also granted to expand the scope of work for the cleaning company responsible for the upkeep of Sukkur’s landfill site. Additionally, tenders for waste management in Karachi’s Jam Chakro and Gond Pass were given the green light. A report was mandated for the maintenance of LoniKot landfill site in Hyderabad. Furthermore, budget approval for 2023-2024, discussions on enhancing and expanding work in districts Mirpur, Ghotki, and Khairpur, and a resolution to conduct transactions in Pakistani currency instead of dollars were part of the agenda.

Extending and improving work in the Eastern districts and holding discussions for a few months upon the completion of the private company’s work were also approved. The meeting also sanctioned an increase in contractual employees’ salaries and approved the minutes of the first steering committee meeting.
